About the Prairiegrapevine Folklore Society
History:
The Prairie Grapevine Folklore Society has been a Central Illinois source of traditional and contemporary folk music, storytelling and dance since 1981. Our audiences range in age from early childhood to senior citizens. Our regular audience is from an area bounded by Peoria, Edwardsville, Urbana, and Quincy-a radius of approximately 100 miles. We have presented the best in state and national performers, occasionally even international performers. We have a loyal audience base who provide an attentive and appreciative audience for performers.
Prairie Grapevine’s mission is to continue to bring the best in folk artistry to local audiences, staying close to traditional sources, and presenting performers who have demonstrated the ability to be effective in a live setting venue. In tandem with that mission is to provide performance opportunities for local performers.
